Sungju Park-Kang is Adjunct Professor at the Centre for East Asian Studies, University of Turku, Finland. Sungju was Assistant Professor of International Relations and Korean Studies at Leiden University, the Netherlands and the University of Central Lancashire, UK. He is the author of Fictional International Relations: Gender, Pain and Truth (Routledge, 2014), which explores a woman spy case in Korea. During his stay as Visiting Professor at NIAS, Sungju will work on a project about transitional justice in South Korea – more specifically about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, whose aim is to seek justice for victims of state violence.
